GT Custom Homes • Our Team
  Thomas DiMatteo

In 1969 when the business incorporated, Tom became the president of G.T. Custom Built Homes, Inc. Tom has served on the Board of Directors of the Niagara County Builders Association. Tom believes in supporting the youth of the community. He has served one year as President and ten years on the Board of Directors for the Boys and Girls Club of the Tonawandas, for which he received the "Serving the Youth" award. With a bachelor's degree from the State University of New York at Buffalo and solid hands-on experience in the building field, Tom plans, develops, and estimates ensuring an exceptional custom built home at an affordable cost.

When a prospective homebuyer wants to meet to discuss building, Tom is usually the first person to greet them. He listens to their wish lists and helps them organize their ideas. Tom's business experience transforms those thoughts into concrete plans and specs. Through several meetings, he works with customers to reach a goal of providing them with the most for their money. Tom takes pride in building each and every custom home, as it is a reflection of him and our company.

Don't expect to see Tom just in the office. Tom divides his time as he is often on the job site doing fieldwork to make certain that the houses are being built to a high standard, conforming to New York State codes and regulations, and adhering to the plans. This ensures that all the planning results in a home that meets the customers' expectations.

  Gerald DiMatteo

Gerry has a bachelor's degree in business management from the State University of New York at Buffalo. His mechanical insight, along with his education, enables Gerry to effectively manage the building process. It is Gerry who will sketch, draw, and change a preliminary plan as well as advise the homebuyers on the aesthetic and structural aspects of their home. His keen architectural sense will organize ideas resulting in a design that meets or exceeds the homebuyer's expectations. Designing a plan goes far beyond the layout, amount of space, and cosmetics of the house. There are state and local codes such as window size requirements, load bearing requirements, ventilation, lighting requirements, structural feasibility, and much, much more. As planning is Gerry's primary focus, he acts as a liaison between clients and engineers to ensure the technical aspects of design are accomplished.

Gerry is also committed to fieldwork on the building site. It is he that attends to the subtle details of each house under construction. He is constantly striving for quality, precision, and excellence; he is the driving force in ensuring that our homes exhibit completeness and beauty.

  Doris Carlson

Doris has been the coordinating force in our office for over 28 years. When the telephone rings at our office, the voice on the phone is friendly, confident, and capable of handling much more than a message. You may see her showing a model home, or you may talk with her to set up your first appointment; she will coordinate the subcontractors and assist clients in some of their selections, as well as complete and manage the paperwork necessary for a smooth building process.  Within the last three years, Doris has also started working with Gerry in the design and the drawing of houses using the inhouse CAD system.  Putting Gerry's design ideas together with a few of her own gives her the ability to answer homeowner questions regarding their home during construction, as well as answering perspective client questions regarding G.T. Homes building practices.

As a liaison between client, subcontractor and builder, our clients feel confident that any concerns will be handled quickly and professionally with emphasis placed on customer satisfaction. Doris knows that every question is just as important as the next and will make sure that the building experience is a satisfying one.

For over 14 years, John has been coordinating his work between Gerry, Tom and the subcontractors, and brings valuable experience to the company. A house under construction requires a great deal of fieldwork-movement and grading of dirt, delivering of supplies, and keeping the job orderly and clean. John's patience enables him to be an excellent "detail person therefore the finished look to a home can largely be attributed to John's efforts.  From driving the dump truck to operating the machinery, to job maintenance, John rounds out the GT team expertly and efficiently!
